What’s On in Manchester: Live Entertainment this Winter

Christmas has been and gone and we have welcomed in the New Year with true style, but what now? While many touring bands and artists tend to take a break over the festive period, we start to see a flutter of them returning to the road once more from the middle of January onwards.

If the traditional Panto isn’t really your scene, hold out for one of the fantastic acts that will be arriving on stage during January and February. If you’re hoping to catch a performance in the North West, you can enjoy a budget city break with the help of cheap Travelodge hotels in Manchester, meaning that, once the concert is over, all you need to think of is the nice, comfortable bed that awaits you a short distance away, rather than the hassle of making your own way back home.

Gary Barlow – 20th January – O2 Apollo

Although Take That reunited recently to take the world by storm once more, Gary continues to hold down a successful solo career and will be showcasing some of his material in his latest tour.

Paloma Faith – 23rd & 24th January – O2 Apollo

Indie queen, Paloma Faith, will be arriving in the city a few days after Gary, as part of her Fall to Grace tour.

TNA Wrestling – 25th January – MEN Arena

For something a little more dramatic, perhaps some knuckle-biting fun with TNA Wrestling? Following a massive boom in followers over recent years, it’s guaranteed to be an awesome evening.

X Factor Live Tour – 26th January – MEN Arena

A follow on live tour to showcase the success of the seven acts to reach the finals of X Factor 2012.

Strictly Come Dancing Live! – 31st January – MEN Arena

If the X Factor isn’t your thing, maybe Strictly is? You can find the live shows across the country this winter.

Plan B – 2nd February – MEN Arena

Ben Drew may be building a successful movie career, but his alias, Plan B, continues to mould himself as a talented British rapper, with his latest tour.

Korpiklaani – 2nd February – Club Academy

One for the metallers here, with the fun folk metal riffs of Finnish band, Korpiklaani, performing tracks such as Beer Beer!

Ronan Keating – 2nd & 3rd February – O2 Apollo

In support of his latest solo album, Fires, Ronan will be performing at the O2 Apollo this February.

Kaiser Chiefs – 15th February – O2 Apollo

Do you predict a riot? These veteran Indie rockers will be landing on the O2 Apollo during mid-Feb.

Reel Big Fish – 27th February – HMV Ritz

Aging ska punk outfit, Reel Big Fish, continue to be a storming success, supporting their latest album Candy Coated Fury.

Australian Pink Floyd – 28th February – MEN Arena

If you close your eyes and just listened to the music, you’d think this amazing tribute band was the real deal. Fantastic sounds paying homage to Roger Waters et al.
