What Do I Need to Know About Scuba Diving?

When people think about scuba diving, they tend to think about exploring the coral reefs in pristine ocean water. While that is definitely one very attractive aspect of scuba diving, you’ll find that it is quite a limited idea of what the process entails. When you are thinking about getting started as a scuba diver, there are a few key facts to keep in mind.

Scuba diving can take you to many different and interesting places, so consider where you might want to explore.

Training
There are three parts to any scuba diver’s training. The first is lectures, to make sure that the prospective diver understands the physics that are involved. These lectures will go over things like the oxygen tank, what certain readings mean and how long it is advisable to stay under. The second part of the training is known as pool training. The students are given their gears and allowed to enter swimming pools. This is a safe way to learn now to operate the equipment in a controlled environment. Environment training involves learning to dive in the open water. While most environment training takes place in the ocean, some people also like to scuba dive in lakes and rivers. Learning to dive and explore shipwrecks requires more specialized training

Opportunities
The vast majority of scuba divers are recreational divers. Whether they only scuba dive once or twice in their lives or they make a life-long dedication to this hobby, it remains a hobby for them. A recreational scuba diver has many opportunities for their hobby, and it can take them all over the world to explore a number of different locations. A commercial scuba diver, on the other hand, spends their professional time in the water in the service of employers like corporations who need to drill, construction companies, the military and scientists.

Equipment
Every scuba diver needs a scuba set, scuba in this case being an acronym for a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus. This set includes a tank of air that frees the diver from need for contact with the surface. There are two systems that may be used in a given scuba set. In the first lace, there is the rebreather scuba set, which recycles the exhaled gas while removing the carbon dioxide from the system, and the open circuit system, which vents the exhaled air into the environment. A diver will also use fins to help propel them through the water and a mask to help them see clearly. The oxygen tank is strapped to the back, and tube carries to the oxygen to a mask that is strapped to the face. Depending on where and when the person is diving, they might also wear a body suit that will protect them from the temperature of the water. Look at the check list at here.
