We are back from Bali, but it seems my family and I have left our hearts behind at the heavenly island. There’s so much to remember about Bali and Semniyak, the southern tip of the island where we had decided to lodge. The beach near this part of the island was lined with white sand, powdery and smooth like icing sugar. The narrow strip of sand descended beneath clear blue water creating a shallow slope and acquiring a light blue hue. You could still see your feet when you were knee deep in water, with colourful fish occasionally kissing your toes. The views of the sprawling Indian Ocean and Bali Strait were mesmerizing, the food was tantalizing, and the night life was mind-blowing, and yet, what I miss the most is Villa De Suma, the excellent place that we are glad we chose as our home in paradise.
A friend had mentioned Villa De Suma Seminyak, Bali and the excellent services and facilities they offered, so we decided to rely on the referral to avoid last-minute surprises, but boy, were we surprised when we stepped into this splendid villa! We were gaping at the stylish interiors that made 5-star hotels pale in comparison. Glimmering marble floors seem to be inviting us to roam bare footed all day, and the stunning 15-meter pool was daring us to remove our clothes too.
The staffs were charming and keen to serve, unlike at some of the places we’ve been to. They wrapped us up in warm smiles and greetings, then showed us around before settling us in our bedrooms perched on either side of the mystical swimming pool. The villa was artistically decorated in a contemporary minimalist style that carried elements from the Balian culture. It was classy.
The living room opened up to the pool, as did the huge bedroom windows. The house was fully wired with iPod compatible Bose sound system in all rooms, something that the kids discovered within the first 5 minutes of our arrival. There was a big-screen LED TV, DVD player and even an excellent collection of movies. The bedrooms were air-conditioned and spoilingly comfortable. Living here for one week was going to be quite an experience, I mused.
We freshened up in the stupendous bathrooms and the excellent butler had some snacks ready in the mean time. He had club sandwiches, fries, and the best tea in the world served out for us, and we ate royally by the pool while listening to music, chatting and laughing a lot. It was getting a bit hot after tea, so we decided to go for a swim in the inviting pool. The next hour or so was spent in the pool and then we emerged to venture into the city for some shopping.
The next one week seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. We used to stroll down to the enchanting beach a couple of times each day, spending time there and having fun. The city and the restaurants were good and we dined out a number of times. But, I have to admit, that the best time that we spent, the most fun that we had, and the tastiest food we ate were at Villa De Suma Seminyak.
