The South of France plays host to some of the most luxurious places on earth, with the countless wonders attracting tourists from all over the world. Whatever your holiday preferences are, from relaxing on the sun-soaked beaches of Marseille to the antique shopping villages of Avignon, your holiday dreams are sure to come true.
There really is plethora of activities to get involved in and with so much to see you won’t be satisfied until you’ve travelled across the entire region. Here are three of the most notable landmarks to explore during your journey across the South of France.
L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
If you’re travelling to Avignon during your holiday or if you’ve managed to get yourself a hotel or villa in the area, you can delve into the various shopping experiences available in this beautifully cosy village in the South of France.

There are all sorts of antique treasures to unearth as you make your way along the vast numbers of market stalls where you’ll be regularly greeted by friendly locals looking to sell their antique furnishings, ornaments and even hand-made goods.
With a stunning river that flows through the village itself, you can take in the beautiful sights from the riverside and even experience the bustling atmosphere during the holiday seasons if you choose the right date to visit.
Gordes
If you’re travelling around Provence then you’ll almost certainly come across one of the many perched villages in the region. Gordes is a stunning village location that sits atop a rocky hillside and it the entire village has been built around a medieval castle.

You can venture your way through the narrow passageways and winding streets to take in the unique atmosphere that was once home to a bustling medieval population.
Some of the oldest properties in the village have been converted into splendid French hotels, bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the local cuisine whilst taking in the incredible views from the mountain.
The Gorges du Verdon
To access the Verdon gorge you need to make a drive up the mountainous hillside which in itself gives you all the wonderful views you’d need to be satisfied with your day. However, once you reach the top you’ll be able to see the gargantuan gorge for what it is; an unrivalled attraction with rolling pastoral hills down to a splendid river.

If you’re one for the adventurous journey you can take the road alongside the gorge and make some particularly hair-raising turns near the edge of the cliff face. You’ll soon put your nerves to one side however as the stunning views from the roadside become clearer.
You could even park up at the roadside and trek your way across the vast canyon, giving you exclusive access to the outstanding views.
