Bucket list holiday destinations can mean different things to different people, but there are some locations around the world that everyone should experience in their lifetime. However, having adequate insurance is vital wherever you go, so click here for a quote before you travel, or read on for five of the most popular holiday-of-a-lifetime destinations.
The Seychelles
If your idea of the perfect holiday is one of luxurious white-sand beaches and nothing else to do, then the Seychelles could be for you. The terms ‘picture postcard’ and other such travel clichés could have been invented just for this group of over 100 islands.
The Seychelles are undoubtedly perfect if you have a romantic destination at the top of your bucket list, but if there are other things on your mind, then you may want to remember that there is little in the way of sightseeing here. If you just want relaxation, however, this is the place to be above all others.
New Zealand
It was once said that when God created the world he took all the bits that were left over and made New Zealand. When you consider what a mix of natural sights you can see here then you’ll understand why.
Geographical features include spectacular fjords and impressive mountains, while on the east side of the south island there are some glorious beaches too. Whale-watching and extreme sports are just two more aspects of the country that make New Zealand an unusual but worthy contender for any bucket list.
Galapagos Islands
If you want true adventure, then arguably there is only one place to be and that is in the Galapagos Islands. A cruise is high up on many wish lists and you can combine the best of everything in tracing the steps of Charles Darwin as he uncovered some breath-taking specimens of wildlife.
Hopefully, your vessel will be better equipped than Darwin’s Beagle, but it is worth considering this trip in view of the incredible animals and landscapes that you won’t experience anywhere else.
Australia
This could be argued as being similar to New Zealand in many ways, but Australia is vast and much more ‘full on’. If you want extreme sports such as parachuting, bungee jumping and many others then this is the best place to experience them.
Australia is also home to many of the landmarks that people want to see before they die and the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Ayers Rock are just a few of the sights that should be at the top of everybody’s list.
Egypt
When it comes to ‘must-see’ landmarks, Egypt certainly has its fair share of them, and tourists from all over the world flock to the country each and every year to see some of the most spectacular wonders of the ancient world. If you only have time for one of the Seven Wonders, then the pyramids should definitely be your priority.
The real beauty of Egypt, however, is that there is more than just the pyramids to see and much of the country is described as being an ‘open museum’. There are thousands of structures and artefacts on view that tell the story of this fascinating ancient civilisation, and if ancient artefacts just aren’t your thing then you’ll find plenty of modern attractions too!
