Ben Nevis is one of the UK’s most popular hiking spots and provides a challenge to walkers of all abilities as it takes on average over eight hours to climb. If you are a complete beginner, guided tours are available if you want someone to show you the ropes. High quality hiking gear is essential even in fine weather as you can never guess what the conditions will be like when you reach the summit. If you are feeling adventurous, why not take part in the Ben Nevis race? It takes place on the 1st Saturday of September and is an annual event.

Hadrian’s Wall-Northumberland

History lovers will adore the walking experience that Hadrian’s Wall offers. An impressive 84 miles long, this popular trekking spot is not for the faint hearted. Completing the trail can take up to six days but in this time you can enjoy spectacular landscapes, first class archaeology, rare wildlife as well as hearty pub lunches. Some parts of this trail are challenging but fear not, you don’t have to complete the whole thing.

St Michael’s Way-Cornwall

This is a fabulously scenic walk that starts in Lelant near St Ives and goes along the coast finishing in Marazion. The beautiful St Michael’s Mount is one of the highlights of this route and at 12.5 miles; you may mistake it for one of the easiest routed on the list. However, while it may be one of the shortest, it is a fairly strenuous route.

Perhaps the most breathtaking of routes, the White Cliffs of Dover provide spectacular views for walkers every day of the year. Take tea in the lighthouse or view the iconic cliffs from the spectacular coastline. This walk is for people of all abilities and should take no more than two hours to complete. Classified as easy, this is the ideal location for a casual stroll across the famous white cliffs.
