Cricket fans might traditionally view the onset of winter as a time of year when cricket goes into hibernation, but that is not true for the international scene. Cricket fans can still watch their England heroes play abroad this winter.
Tour Agenda
The winter of 2012 to 2013 is packed with great cricket action for fans of the game who follow England. As well as a fascinating tour to India which is taking place, there is also a trip to New Zealand to enjoy. With the team building towards some testing encounters in the summer of 2013, it promises to be a great year in which to get involved with England cricket.
India and New Zealand
The first big challenge this winter is a demanding tour to India. As well as looking to make a strong statement in the four-match test series in a country where spin bowling dominates, England will also want to win the five-match one-day series. India have proved to be frustrating opponents for England in recent times, almost invincible at home, but looking weak and nervous when it came to England cricket tours away from home.
No one should underestimate them on their own dusty pitches, however and England have looked vulnerable to spin bowling in recent times. Expect the Indians to pack the side with spinners and test the technique of the English batsmen.
After India, the team head to New Zealand in early 2013. Three test matches and a one-day series, as well as three Twenty-20 games provide the entertainment here. New Zealand provides a nice contrast to hot and passionate India, with the cricket scene a lot more like rural England than urban Delhi. There is plenty to do away from the cricket in New Zealand and it is a great trip for cricket fans who want to do some serious relaxing.
Ashes And Champions Trophy
Both these series form a great aperitif for the biggest event in cricket which will take place in 2013. Australia are set to travel to England again for the Ashes, a huge series which will attract the attention of sports fans from all across the world. If you know any fans in Australia, now is the time to invite them over to the Old Dart to follow the Ashes.
With the Champions Trophy also taking place in England in 2013, the next 12 months promises to be a real great year for cricket fans. The Champions Trophy brings together some of the world’s best teams for a festival of one day internationals. Make sure that you are part of it by planning your tour packages as soon as possible and get behind your heroes.
