Phuket

At around 49 km long, sometimes it can be easy to forget that Phuket is actually an island. Affectionately known as the ‘pearl of the Andaman,’ Phuket is the largest of the Thai islands and it’s size allows it to easily home several towns each with their own unique atmosphere The capital city of Patong is the place to go for those looking for a hedonistic adventure, while Rawai on the south coast remains relaxed and laid-back, even with recent tourist developments.

Krabi

If Phuket is the place for the wealthy tourists, then Krabi is the place to be for adventurers of another kind. Famous for its towering limestones that emerge from the sea, it’s perfect for sporty travellers who want to take on the waters via kayak and view the seascape while rock climbing. Though the region is known as the country’s climbing capital, if you aren’t interested in the rough and tumble you can still enjoy the sights with your feet firmly on the ground.

Both are well accessible via speedboats, and holidaymakers like Round the World Experts make sure to include a visit on any itinerary. Phi-Phi is famous for its nightlife, with numerous beach bars as far as the white sands stretch. If you’re feeling a little worse for wear the following day, why not take a yoga class with a view of the Tonsai Bay or take in a traditional Thai massage to relax your muscles after a day spent snorkeling in the reefs.
