Escape to Cornwall

A real favourite with surfers, families, walkers and nature lovers, Cornwall on the South West Coast of England attracts visitors from all across Europe seeking great beaches, tasty local produce and a host of sights to see. In the past 10 years the range and quality of self-catering holiday cottages on the beach has increased considerably as holidaymakers move more towards renting their own private holiday home than forking out for hotel accommodation. Finding rental properties on or near the beachfront has been made a lot easier thanks to a relatively new website called Beachlets which only advertises self-catering beach cottages that are all either located on or near the closest beach, only a 10 minute drive at most. Nearly 70% of the beach cottages are within 300m of the nearest beach, with a large selection that are actually situated right on the beachfront, enjoying uninterrupted sea views and direct beach access, which surely must be the holy grail of any beach rental.

Whether it’s the surf, the child friendly beaches or the myriad of art galleries and quaint fishing villages, Cornwall is sure to suit all comers from the youngest toddlers, right up to those just looking to relax on the terrace with a cold drink taking in the wonderful sea views. There are plenty of places of interest to visit including the Eden Project near St Austell, the biggest indoor rainforest on the planet or if you’re a large group of friends seeking perfect waves by day and a party atmosphere by night, Newquay on Cornwall’s North Coast should do the trick. With plenty of Blue Flag beaches dotted about the coast, many with lifeguards during the summer months, Cornwall is the ideal holiday destination for families with children; especially the beaches with rock pools guaranteed to keep the kids entertained for hours. For those in search of galleries, boutique shops and fine dining mixed with white sandy beaches and high quality cottages to rent with sea views then St Ives and Carbis Bay are the ideal seaside escapes.

The lesser know villages of Whitsand Bay and Downderry in South Cornwall are less crowded, offer a wonderful mix of long sandy beaches and rugged coastlines ideal for families searching for a quieter beach holiday experience. The coast is peppered with all types of accommodation ranging from large luxury beach houses to quaint fisherman’s cottages, just the thing for couples hoping for a secluded romantic break for two. If your planned holiday falls outside of the traditional summer months of July and August you might like to try Penzance or Marazion in West Cornwall which, due to their sub-tropical climate, offer decent weather all year round. No matter if it’s action packed water sports you’re looking for or a coastal walk with your favourite hound by your side, Cornwall on the South Western tip of the United Kingdom will remind you of just how good it is to spend your holidays by the sea.
